ABOUT ME
My name is Marlayna, I am an artist and trained counsellor and art therapist (MA). I come from a mixed Afro-Indigenous American background which has informed much of the work I do. In my creative practice, I like to work in communities or in collaboration with other artists. I primarily work with natural materials and explore culturally significant topics. I have a strong interest in working with flowers and nature-based art as it allows for a more financially and environmentally sustainable option for art-making and art therapy!
Along with my private practice, I have experience in consulting with schools, families, and businesses. The focus of this work has primarily been on psycho-education of the nervous system, neurodivergence and mental health, and the benefits of art and creativity.
